TETILIN 20MG contains Isotretinoin which belongs to a group of medicines known as retinoids which is used to treat skin problems. Isotretinoin used to treat severe nodular acne. It is only used in patients whose acne has not responded to other treatments. It works by shrinking the oil, sebaceous, glands in the skin. This reduces the amount of oil that is produced naturally by skin and also kills the bacteria that cause acne and relieves redness and soreness.

Severe nodular acne is the formation of red, swollen, tender lumps in the skin. If untreated it leads to permanent scars. This medicine should be used in children and adolescents from 12 years of age only after puberty. It must be used under the guidance of a dermatologist.

Dry skin:

ALCOHOL

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with TETILIN 20MG.

KIDNEY

TETILIN 20MG should be taken with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

TETILIN 20MG is not recommended in patients with active liver diseases. Before taking, discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

ALLERGY

• Increased levels of vitamin A in body (Hypervitaminosis A)

• Anorexia nervosa (where people eat too little)

INTERACTIONS

• Tetracyclines antibiotics
• Vitamin A supplements
• Progestin-only birth control pills (mini-pills)
• Medicines used to prevent epilepsy or seizures (e.g. phenytoin)
• Medicines used to treat mental problems (e.g. st John’s wort)
